Ingredients

  • 1 bottle protein drink, 11 to 14 oz, any flavor
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk, optional, for re-spin
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sweetener, optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Optional mix-ins:

  • Chocolate chips
  • Crushed cookies
  • Chopped nuts
  • Peanut butter pieces
  • Caramel drizzle
  • Brownie chunks
  • Fruit pieces
  • Granola

Instructions

  1. Pour the base.
Open the protein drink and pour it into the Ninja Creami pint container. If you want a stronger flavor or a slightly richer taste, stir in vanilla extract, sweetener, or a pinch of salt before freezing.
  2. Stay below the fill line.
Make sure the liquid stays under the MAX FILL line. If the bottle has more than the container can hold, pour in only enough to keep within the limit.
  3. Freeze completely.
Place the lid on the pint and freeze it upright for at least 24 hours. For the best texture, freeze it on a flat surface so the base sets evenly.
  4. Spin in the Ninja Creami.
Remove the pint from the freezer and place it into the outer bowl assembly. Attach the lid and process it using the Lite Ice Cream or Ice Cream setting, depending on the texture you want.
  5. Check the texture.
After the first spin, the mixture may look crumbly or powdery. This is normal for protein drink bases. Use a spoon to check the center before deciding whether it needs more liquid.
  6. Re-spin if needed.
If the texture is not creamy enough, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk and run the Re-spin cycle. If needed, repeat once more until smooth and scoopable.
  7. Add mix-ins.
If you want extra texture or flavor, make a small well in the center of the ice cream, add your mix-ins, and use the Mix-ins setting to blend them evenly.
  8. Serve.
Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or freeze for 30 to 60 minutes if you want it firmer.

Recipe Tips

  • Chocolate protein drinks work especially well with chocolate chips or brownie chunks.
  • Vanilla protein drinks pair nicely with fruit, caramel, or cookie mix-ins.
  • A splash of milk during re-spin usually fixes a crumbly texture.
  • If you want a thicker result, avoid adding extra liquid before freezing.
