Remember that perfect soft serve swirl from Mr Whippy? This Ninja Creami recipe recreates that exact light, fluffy texture and vanilla-forward flavor right in your kitchen. It’s airy, dreamy, and ready for sprinkles, chocolate sauce, or classic cone service.

Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar or sugar substitute
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or clear vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon guar gum or xanthan gum (for authentic soft serve texture)
- Pinch of salt
Optional mix-ins/toppings:
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Chocolate sauce
- Crushed waffle cone pieces
- Strawberry sauce
- Caramel drizzle
- Mini chocolate chips
- Chopped peanuts
- Flaky sea salt
Instructions
Mix the base.
In a blender or medium bowl, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla bean paste, guar gum, and salt. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth and slightly thickened. The gum gives that signature soft serve elasticity.
Taste and adjust.
Taste the mixture — it should taste sweet and strongly vanilla since freezing mutes flavor. Add more powdered sugar or vanilla if needed. Let sit 5 minutes to fully hydrate the guar gum.
Pour into the pint.
Transfer to the Ninja Creami pint, staying well below the MAX FILL line. Soft serve bases expand more during processing.
Freeze completely.
Lid on tight, freeze upright for 24 hours minimum. Level surface ensures even freezing for perfect texture.
Spin in the Ninja Creami.
First cycle: use Lite Ice Cream or Sorbet setting for airy texture. Remove immediately after spinning — don’t let it sit.
Check the texture.
Perfect first-spin result should be soft serve consistency. If powdery/crumbly, add 1 tablespoon milk and run Re-spin.
Serve Mr Whippy style.
Serve immediately in waffle cones with classic toppings. For swirl effect, use a piping bag or large spoon. Freeze briefly (15 min) only if needed for slight firmness.
No mix-ins needed.
Traditional Mr Whippy shines plain or with toppings. If adding mix-ins, use sparingly and run Mix-ins cycle once only.
Recipe Tips
- Guar gum or xanthan gum creates authentic soft serve “stretch” texture — found in baking aisles.
- Clear vanilla extract gives classic ice cream shop color.
- Vanilla bean paste adds gourmet speckles and flavor depth.
- Powdered sugar dissolves better than granulated.
- Serve in chilled cones for pro presentation.
- Whole milk + cream ratio mimics commercial soft serve perfectly.
